About this wiki

What this encyclopedia covers, which build it describes, and how to read its reference data.

This is the BuildXD field guide: practical instructions and reference pages for the current development game. Start with a guide when you want to do something; use an item page when you need a precise recipe, output quantity, food value, or list of crafting uses.

Coverage

This edition covers BuildXD 0.19.3 — Night Sky, checked on November 3, 2026. It includes all 375 entries in the current item library, 176 shaped crafting outputs, 25 kiln conversions, and 45 named creature entries. The extended catalog contains 537 named item/block entries, including placed states, alternate orientations, and retained content. Those extended entries are not all independently obtainable.

The 45 creature names include the retained Siren form. Mermaid and Siren share one current day/night implementation; the wiki does not count them as two distinct naturally spawning species.

How the reference is made

The item library, names, stack limits, durability, food values, crafting recipes, ingredient grids, workstation requirements, and kiln conversion/fuel rules are extracted from the current game definitions. The extraction runs the relevant pure content functions in isolation and does not open a saved world. Practical guides are checked against the corresponding gameplay logic and current release notes.

These are source-checked instructions. Building this wiki did not include a new live gameplay test of every recipe or every encounter. Where a feature is optional or experimental, the article says so. Plans and worklists are not treated as implemented gameplay.

Reading a recipe

Each occupied cell represents one ingredient. Empty cells matter. A smaller pattern can move within the grid, and horizontal mirrors are accepted. A recipe page lists both its output batch and the total direct ingredients.

Recipes fitting 2×2 can use the inventory grid. Larger patterns need a building deck or the specified specialist workstation. Selecting a recipe in the in-game library arranges real inventory ingredients; taking the result completes crafting.

Simulation and world conditions

Unless a guide explicitly says otherwise, a duration describes active simulation time. Loaded chunks, distance, game mode, lifecycle state, and companion activity affect which systems are progressing. Sleeping advances the clock without simulating every skipped moment in full.

Natural generation belongs to a world's saved generation version. New terrain features often require a fresh world. Existing builds, inventories, and saved geography are not replaced just because a release adds a new biome or settlement layout.

Keeping the wiki useful

BuildXD is in development. A later game build may change recipes, controls, behavior, or names. The version marker on every page identifies the build behind the information. The website's search runs locally in your browser and needs no wiki account.
